I’m not sure if Onion Maiden is still doing this at brunch, BUT: when I went in May, all brunch dishes were served with the “Kale ’em” Salad and Roasted Potatoes! The salad was very tasty, and the potatoes were cooked to PERFECTION! I really enjoyed dunking the roasted potatoes into ketchup!
*NOTE*: Onion Maiden didn’t ask me to write this post. I am just a Friendly Pittsburgh Foodie and Yogini, who enjoys sharing her foodie and yoga adventures with others. Photos captured on my iPhone 7s, and were edited with Adobe Photoshop CS4 Extended and Instagram.
I had a RARE Saturday off in Saturday (this is very important to note, as Onion Maiden only serves brunch on Saturdays [and is closed on Sundays]). Thus, I took fully advantage by inviting a few friends to brunch with me at Onion Maiden (located in the Allentown neighborhood of Pittsburgh)!
I have been following Onion Maiden ever since I first had their food at VegFeast in 2015! Their food was INCREDIBLE, and honestly didn’t taste like “Vegan food”. My fandom towards Onion Maiden is SO dedicated that last year, I took a Lyft and and Uber during my 30 minute lunch break to get brunch from Onion Maiden when they did a pop-up event at Black Forge Coffee House (also in Allentown). Needless to say, TOTALLY worth it (and the coffee at Black Forge is AMAZING! If you haven’t been there, Pittsburgh, you must go)! Thus: when Onion Maiden finally opened up their own brick-and-mortar restaurant space, I just had to dine there (and yinz know I’m ALL about brunch)!
Main Course: “Waffles in the Throne Room”! This was a Matcha Waffle with Strawberries, Coconut Cream, Walnuts and Maple Syrup! I must say, one of THE best waffles I’ve EVER had! Especially since I’ve been having issues with dairy, I really appreciated the decadent dairy alternative of coconut cream. 🙂
It was nice to go back-and-forth between the savory-ness of the “Kale ’em” Salad and Roasted Potatoes, and the sweetness of the “Waffles in the Throne Room”. ❤
My complete brunch (including Zeke’s Coffee—one of my FAVORITE local coffee companies)!
*NOTE*: Onion Maiden’s brunch menu now changes weekly. The best way to find out about the brunch menu is to follow them on Facebook (see info below), where Onion Maiden will post the brunch menu a few days before. I am happy to say that the past two weeks, the “Waffles in the Throne Room” has been included on the brunch menu!
Well there you have it, folks! Whether you stop by Onion Maiden for dinner or brunch, I highly recommend dining there! I’m excited to return on my next Saturday off from work!
Next up on the blog: brunch at DiAnoia’s Eatery!

I have been living in Pittsburgh for about 6 months now and have tried more than 30 bruch places but never been to Onion Maiden. Pictures and blog content looks delicious. I would definitely try it soon.
